Well it’s finally done! Kay Nerd 3.0 has been in the works for about a week now, and it’s finally live. Most of it looks pretty much the same and I preserved all the existing content. But I assure you, under the hood, it’s been completely rebuilt. The previous version required a lot of micromanaging the CSS (styling code that makes everything look like it does) with seemingly endless patches and workarounds to get everything to behave properly, and it was becoming too cumbersome, with a lot of conflicting CSS rules making formatting things a nightmare. Well now everything is much leaner to manage!
I also made a number of small changes and improvements, such as keeping the navigation menu stuck to the top of the screen so you can easily access it without scrolling back up. If you’re reading this on a phone, you’ll also notice a title bar appears below the header (except on the homepage where the site-name does the job on its own) to show you what section of the site you’re in! I’ve also added new Star Wars themed separators, because…NERD! There really are way too many small formatting improvements to list, but just know that I tirelessly worked to make sure the site looks nice and works right across all 3 main device classes (Desktop, Tablet, and Phone).
And we have the return of the Contact Form!!! I previously had to remove it because some jerk (probably a spam-bot) spammed the contact form so hard that the address that delivers the form submissions to me got flagged as spam and my web-hosting service shut off the service to prevent any further abuse. Apparently the “invisible” anti-spam features weren’t robust enough. So now I’m forced to use the ugly old white reCaptcha box to circumvent efforts to spam the hell outta my inbox.
I’ve also added a “Last Updated” date stamp to the top of the homepage so you will know when I’ve updated the site! Not to mention being a little bit funnier with my welcome message…🤪
And of course there’s new blog posts and new art added to the galleries for you to enjoy!
Please feel free to have a look around and see the various improvements, and leave an orange heart in the comments to let me know
